Baked Cereal Honey Snack Mix

Sesame sticks mix up with cereal and popcorn in this party pleasing snack.

3 cups Wheat Chex® cereal
3 cups checkerboard-shaped pretzels
2 cups popped light microwave popcorn
1 cup sesame sticks
1 cup mixed nuts
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons canola or soybean oil
2 tablespoons sesame seed, toasted, if desired*


Preheat oven to 275°F (135°C). Mix cereal, pretzels, popcorn, sesame sticks and nuts in ungreased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch jelly roll pan.

Mix remaining ingredients in small bowl. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated.

Bake for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spread on wax paper; cool about 30 minutes.

Additional Information

* To quickly toast sesame seed, cook in a small nonstick skillet over medium heat 1 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until light golden brown.

Nuts contain a type of fat that is good for your heart and make a great snack if you keep an eye on portion size. As long as you keep the total amount of fat you eat low and keep an eye on portion sizes, you can also combine nuts with whole-grain cereal and low-fat popcorn.
