Date Cream Filling


1 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped dates
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon flour
1 large egg
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla


Heat milk and dates in top of double boiler. Combine sugar and flour. Add beaten egg. Blend until smooth, then add slowly to hot milk. Cook, stirring until thick. Cool. Stir in nuts and vanilla. Spread between layers of cake.
