Brownie Mix

This recipe was discovered over 50 years ago. Stir up a big batch and you'll have more than enough to make chocolaty sweets to satisfy any sweet tooth.


18 cups (108 servings)


8 cups granulated (white) sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups baking cocoa
4 teaspoons baking powder
4 teaspoons salt
2 cups shortening


In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Additional Information

This mix can be used to make Walnut Brownies, Brownie Snack Cake, Brownie Crinkles and Fudge Sauce.


Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to 6 months.
