Butterscotch Blondies

Ingredients

3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter or margarine, room temperature
3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 3/4 cups (11 ounce package) butterscotch chips
1 cup nuts, chopped (optional)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking pan using Pan Release or cooking spray.

In a large bowl, beat butter and sugars until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Stir in butterscotch chips and nuts, if desired. Spread in prepared pan.

Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until top is golden brown and center is set (slightly sticky) but not dry. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
