Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies II

These brownies contain both chocolate and peanut butter, with an added touch of chopped walnuts.

16 brownies

4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup butter or margarine
4 large eggs
2 1/2 cups granulated (white) sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking pan using Pan Release or cooking spray. In a saucepan, melt chocolate, peanut butter and butter over medium heat. Set aside.

In a large bowl, beat eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla. Add melted chocolate mixture. Add flour gradually. Mix well. Stir in nuts. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted halfway between the edge and center comes out clean. Do not overbake. Center should be set (slightly sticky) but not dry. Let cool, cut into squares. Cool on wire cooling rack before cutting.
