Sand Castle Brownie Mix

This recipe makes moist, fudgy brownies. Attach the recipe to a jar of this lovely layered mix, and you have a super-easy gift for any occasion.


1 batch (4 1/4 cups total/24 servings)

Brownie Ingredients

1/3 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup flaked coconut
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated (white) sugar
1/3 cup baking cocoa
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Additional Ingredients

2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract


In a 1-quart glass container, layer the first seven ingredients in order listed, packing well between each layer. Cover and store in a cool dry place for up to 6 months.

To prepare brownies: Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan with butter or cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, oil, vanilla and brownie mix. Spread into prepared square baking pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire cooling rack.

Additional Information

Using a plastic knife when cutting the brownies helps prevent them from sticking to the knife.
