Texas Brownies

Sinfully delicious with a hint of cinnamon. Texas Chocolate Frosting can be used with these brownies!


36 brownies


2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated (white) sugar
1 cup butter or margarine
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup water
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking pan with Pan Release or cooking spray.

Combine flour and sugar in a large mixing bowl. In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, bring butter, cocoa and water to a fast boil. Pour over flour mixture and mix well. Mix buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, cinnamon and vanilla into flour mixture; mixing well after each addition. Spread evenly into prepared baking pan.

Bake for 35 minutes in the preheated oven, or until brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.

Additional Information

Once brownies have cooled spread with Texas Chocolate Frosting.
