Chocolate Spritz II

These delicious chocolate cookies are the perfect dessert for a crowd or the holidays.


5 dozen cookies (60 servings)


1 cup granulated (white) sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, room temperature
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons milk
2 ounce unsweetened baking chocolate, melted, cooled
2 tablespoons confectioners' (powdered) sugar


Preheat oven to 375°F (191°C).

In large bowl, beat granulated sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add egg; beat well. Alternately add flour and milk to butter mixture, mixing until well combined. Add cooled chocolate; blend well. If necessary, cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate 30 minutes for easier handling.

Fit cookie press with serrated bar template. Place dough in cookie press; press long strips onto ungreased baking sheets. Cut strips into 4-inch pieces.

Bake for 5 to 7 minutes or until edges are light brown. Immediately remove from baking sheets; cool slightly. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Additional Information

Drizzle cookies with melted white chocolate or almond bark, and sprinkle with colored sugar before the chocolate sets for a pretty sparkling look.
