Gingerbread Spritz Cookies

These delicious gingerbread cookies can be any shape you want using your cookie press. Perfect for holiday entertaining.


6 to 7 dozen cookies


2/3 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
1 cup butter or margarine, room temperature
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ginger


Preheat oven to 375°F (191°C). In a large mixing bowl cream butter, sugar and egg at medium high speed until fluffy. Add flour and remaining ingredients. Mix until dough is smooth and just combined.

Shape dough into small logs and place dough in a cookie press. Using a desired disk, press shapes onto cool ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges turn slightly brown. Remove from oven and cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes. Remove from baking sheet and place on wire cooling rack until cool.
