Rich Chocolate Fudge Frosting

This icing is a rich, fudge chocolate frosting. Best refrigerated overnight before serving. Wonderful spread over Rich Velvet Chocolate Cake.

Yield

enough to cover and fill a 9-inch triple layer cake

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter or margarine
3 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
3 (1 ounce) squares semi-sweet chocolate
5 cups confectioners' (powdered) sugar
1 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

In a medium saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over low heat. Cool several minutes. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, sour cream and vanilla. Add chocolate mixture and beat until smooth. Frost cooled cake. For best flavor, allow frosting to sit overnight before serving.
