Sour Cream Chocolate Icing

This delicious icing is perfect for topping off your favorite chocolate cake. Try it with Sour Cream Chocolate Cake.


16 servings (enough for a 3 layer 9-inch cake)


2 cups (12 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter, cubed
1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 1/2 to 5 cups confectioners' (powdered) sugar


In a saucepan, melt chocolate chips and butter over low heat; stir until smooth. Cool for 5 minutes. Transfer to a large bowl. Add sour cream and vanilla; beat until blended. Add confectioners' sugar; beat until light and fluffy. Spread between layers and over top and sides of cake.


Store in refrigerator.
