Williamsburg Butter Frosting

Creamy butter frosting made with orange liqueur.

Yield

3 cups (16 servings)

Ingredients

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, room temperature
4 1/2 cups confectioners' (powdered) sugar**
12 teaspoons orange liqueur*
1 tablespoon orange zest

Directions

In a large bowl, blend butter with powdered sugar. Stir in orange liqueur. Beat until light and fluffy (this may take awhile). Beat in orange zest. Use to frost cooled cake.

Additional Information

* Orange juice can be substituted for the orange liqueur.

* 12 teaspoons equals 1/4 cup.

** 4 1/2 cups equals a 1 pound box of confections' sugar.

Add additional room temperature butter or water to reach desired consistency.
