Vanilla Sauce

Serve this vanilla sauce with bread pudding or any other dessert.

Yield

1 1/2 cups

Ingredients

1/2 cup granulated (white) sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup boiling water
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
dash salt

Directions

In a small saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch. Stir in 1 cup boiling water. Simmer, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes. Stir in 2 tablespoons butter, vanilla extract and salt; blend well.
